Emergency in Coronado re meds

Hello fellow ex-pats,

I am presently staying in Coranado and was able to extend my vacation by 3 more weeks.
My problem is I cannot have one of my prescription refilled. They do not have the drug or anything close to it. I was told to phone my Dr. And get her to send the pills to Florida and then sent to Mailbox etc here in Coranado. My Dr is now telling me she cannot do that and to speak to my pharmacist. I am waiting to hear back from her. If this doesn't pan out we found a pharmacy in Costa Rica who has the medication. I now have to find out if I can bring a prescription from another country to have it filled there. Does anyone have any other ideas or know of a way to get this med? We looked online but it could take up to 21 days to have it delivered. I will be running out of it in 6 days.
The medication I am in need of is Wellbutrin 100 mg (2x a day). There was a miscommutication between myself and the Panamanian Dr. When I saw her two weeks ago I was under the impression that I could get this drug here. Today she gave me another drug to try but my pharmacist is advising me not to take it as it is not in the same drug family.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Jessica

Have you tried to get a prescription at the hospital? You may have to go into emergency in PC. I do know that some of the meds that my husband is on is only able to be filled in the hospital pharmacy. Also email the John Hopkins in the U.S. and ask what you can get in Panama. They may recommend a relative to the meds you are taking. John Hopkins is affiliated with Punta Pacificia in PC. That is where I would start.

Wellbutrin is also called Zyban and also has other names in foreign countries.

Here is some info you may find helpful:::

Wellbutrin XL
GlaxoSmithKline, Chile; GlaxoSmithKline, Colombia; GlaxoSmithKline, Costa Rica; GlaxoSmithKline, Guatemala; GlaxoSmithKline, Honduras; GlaxoSmithKline, Oman; GlaxoSmithKline, Panama; GlaxoSmithKline, El Salvador; Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Canada; GlaxoSmithKline, Argentina; GlaxoSmithKline, Thailand; Valeant, United States.

Hope this helps just a little.

You can buy the generic of this in most pharmacies in Panama. It is Duloxetine. Just write it on a piece of paper and bring it to the pharmacy. No Rx necessary here. The generic is also cheaper in the US.
