There are piles of free apps out there for mapping/gps for panama, but the detail is pretty sparse when you zoom in. I don't mind paying for one but I don't want to pay for it and not be able to "see" the back road from El Valle to Penenome if you get my drift. If anyone has found a decent one, I would sure appreciate the link. Thanks in advance, L-

I use CityMaps2Go, they have two maps, one for Panama city and one for the whole country. Used it a lot when visiting and was great.

I like WAZE. It is interactive and constantly updated by users. It shows gas stations, restaurants, accidents, speed traps. etc. It can be set for either graphic or vocal directions and woks great here.

Paper maps and National Geographic road maps are available from www.adventuretrek.co on their map and road log page.

I have all 3 options mentioned here and use each one differently. Waze for GPS directions routing through traffic. CityMaps2Go for attractions, restaurants, etc plus map. Paper maps to understand the big picture and get the lay of the land. Google Maps is what I recommend for walking directions which is mandatory in the city.

Sounds like a pretty resounding endorsement for Waze. Will the mapping feature work offline? L-
