205 Foreigners Deported & 758 Foreigners left Voluntarily

Some crimes registered in recent days in Panama involved the participation of foreigners, which keeps the populace alarmed.
The theft of a Rolex watch in the Costa del Este area and a full-day assault on a restaurant in San Francisco are just a few incidents recorded over the weekend.
Fear of foreign involvement in these events was confirmed after the National Police reported that a foreigner was detained Sunday night at the Tocumen International Airport following a follow-up operation.
Other unrelated events, such as the murder of Tatiana Lorenzo Boyd at the hospital in Punta Pacifica and a robbery near the Calle 50 Gourmet Deli on a motorcycle, coincide in the modus operadi used by organized crime in others Latitudes.
The National Bar Association (CNA) joins the sectors concerned by the growing participation of foreigners in criminal acts. "It is worrying what happens," said María Sarabia of the Commission on Migration Issues, and once again called for the lack of a "serious immigration policy."
A lawyer commented that the immigration rules force compliance with the laws that govern the foreigners who commit any crime. "The authorities reserve the right to expel him," he said.
He added that anyone who commits any kind of incitement, offenses or offenses through social networks or other means of dissemination can also be deported or expelled from the country.
The lawyer confirmed that foreigners involved in an altercation in the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Panama, in the middle of an act of support to the Government of Venezuela, could face a deportation process, whenever there is a citizen or ex officio request.
On that occasion, a score of opponents of the administration of Nicolás Maduro tried to enter the enclosure where, among other participants, the Venezuelan ambassador to Panama, Jorge Durán Centeno, and other members of the diplomatic corps were.
"What they did in the Faculty of Humanities is a clear violation of university autonomy, there was aggression on both sides," said the lawyer. In the opinion of the jurist, the Panamanian authorities have not acted with severity in the application of the corresponding norms. The Deputy Director General of the National Migration Service (MMS), Miguel López Cedeño said that in order to avoid the entry of persons with criminal records, the entity verifies, by exchanging information from databases on persons with a background. Reciprocally it is offered between countries and the requirements of organizations like Interpol. Article 65 of Law 3 of February 22, 2008 empowers the National Migration Service to deport and prevent foreigners from entering Panama when they enter Panama illegally, remain undocumented or whoever engages in conduct where they quarrel with morality and good manners. DEPORTATION
As of April, 205 foreigners have been deported, while 758 foreigners were willing to return to their countries voluntarily.
According to Migration, 354 women and 404 men requested to return to their countries of origin. The entity expelled 115 people from the country.
