Panama Leads the Tourism Market

In the past 12 months, 78 environmental impact studies were submitted to develop hotels, marinas, clubs and beach residences in Central American countries, in fact, $766 million in Tourism Projects

Panama is the country with the largest concentration of investment, with about $600 million in tourism construction projects, corresponding to 37 environmental impact studies submitted between July 2016 and June 2017. The projects include construction of the hotel and marina project "Portones del Mar Yacht Club & Resort" in the province of Panama, and the "Porto Caribe" residential building in Colón.

In Costa Rica, 31 EIAs were submitted, which together amount to an approximate investment of $122 million. The constructions that stand out are the mixed projects "Carara Bay" and "Tangara Village Limón", in the provinces of Puntarenas and Limón, respectively.

In Honduras two studies were presented for the construction of tourist infrastructure. The projects require an estimated investment of $18 million, and highlights include the development of the "Courtyard Marriott Río Piedras" hotel to be built in San Pedro Sula.

In Guatemala an EIA was processed to build a tourism project with an estimated investment of $9 million.

In Nicaragua two studies for two projects were processed, in which the expected investment amount is $9 million, while in El Salvador 5 EIAs were processed, envisaging a total investment of $2 million.

The 78 studies presented included various types of tourism projects, including hotels, beach clubs, marinas, and vertical and horizontal residential projects in tourist areas, among others.

CentralAmericaData provides information about construction projects planned in all Central American countries, with details such as estimated investment amount, project times and phases, materials and equipment that will be required during and after construction, water treatment, and parking structure, among other things.
