Hi,
I had very good service from Alice Neufeld. She helped me get my residency and cedula which you need to open a bank account, etc. Here's her info:

Hi, I am new to the forum and soon to be new to Paraguay. I am sure many of us would be interested to know how your residency process has gone and the cost. I am a person who seldom felt I received the value for the cost, that attorneys/ facilitators ask to do very basic, simple processes , such as residency or immigration. I want to build a strong data base from people like myself who are willing to spend 20 or 30 hours to save $4000. Having navigated the Uruguayan system for $300 while recommended attorneys charge $3000 I have some basis to speak from. I would like to hear all we can about navigating the bureaucratic food chain with the attorney/ facilitator link eliminated or kept at an appropriate level. That means hundreds of dollars not thousands! Does anyone have experience obtaining there own residency to share? Let';s here form you bloggers! Ill be there in November.

You may want to check ou www.paraguay-investing.com. The offer attorneys that charge $800 to $1000 euros which is still a high mark up but better than most.

I just (22 Dec11) completed the application process for Paraguay by myself, without any assistance. It's not difficult, just very pedantic. As a result of my experiences I have started a small business helping people, who don't want to pay the $000s for a lawyer, through the process, so everything is done quickly and painlessly. I have a brochure which lists my services and all the costs associated with an application. PM me and I will send it to you. No hard sell or follow up persterings.

If one does not charge more than 1000 USD per head, you can take anyone of these sharks. They are all the same... :( . Greedy and stupid.

http://www.paraguay-investing.com is a wierd page in Japanese.
http://aliceneufeld.com/ and http://alice-neufeld.com/ look either abandoned in the beginning of building which doesn't inspire confidence in their professionalism.
I tried Jeronimo Finestra of finestragroup.com (this site is down now) but he didn't bother to skype me at previously scheduled time, nor send me any email, nor returned my call after so I gave up...
Could anyone recommend a decent immigration lawyer - 1) speaking English, 2) knowledgeable enough to handle a bit non-standard cases, 3) good in communications and, particularly, not afraid of Skype and checking his/her email at least twice a day?
Thank you.

oh really?
Gathering information online stage? So for a non-standard case you are not happy with current status quo of your online search. Suitable provider not meeting your expectations?
Its ok. Once it becomes real, you will adore the "in situ" culture...

For most people, doing the paperwork is easy. It is a pain, somewhat frustrating due to lack of information, but it is not hard.
I would go through the pain and do it youself. I don´t trust lawyers anywhere.
If you want more info, send me a private message.

Good afternoon,
I am a few years late on replying to this post, but let me do it nonetheless. First of all, hiring a lawyer is not necessary to obtain Permanent Residency. I am a registered service provider with Migrations and I am not a lawyer, just a sworn translator. Second of all, not all of us are scammers, for what it's told below in this post. There are many of us who are honest, sincere, reputable and with 100% success rate, at least that's my case. I have got the best references not only for PR, but for many other services I provide, all for expats. In the case of citizens of middle east and that region, let me tell you that I am unable to help obtaining a visa (very difficult deed), and I even ask you to be wary of people who promise a visa and ask for money upfront, they most likely are trying to scam you. If any of you need more information on requesting Permanent Residency, you can send me an email to [email protected]
