Multiple Entry Visa

With a Multiple Entry Visa is there a maximum number of days you are allowed stay in Paraguay per year? I know that the multiple entry visa is good for 90 days stays per visit and is valid for the length of the expiration of your passport. But I want to make sure that there is not a maximum amount of days allowed in the country total per year. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

hi,

the information i received about that subject from an "escribanio", is that the extend period of 90 days given at the border, might be reduced depending on the agent posted there.
It seems that there due to some informality, you might extend this over and over, since there isnt a fixed limitation of days over 1 year period.
Still to be confirmed i say.

There is 2 borders points to cross to Argentina, one is near Puente Remanso the other is called Ita Ramada.
Some expats during the "trial period" , choose to go to the migrations office and pay 250000 guaranies to extend the visa.

There is also a border crossing to Argetina near ASU called Clorinda. We used that one about a year ago to cross over and get our passports restamped to restart our 90 day period. The PY immigration officers refused to stamp them as they said we were trying to "cheat". Translation: "pay us bribe money". My wife, an ex-Paraguayan, was having none of that and got into a rather heated argument. Got their names and we ended up paying to extend our passports in ASU. Of course turned in the officials names for trying to extort bribe, but that was most likely a wasted effort.

Bad experience Brad !
I have taken that route in Ita Ramada twice already, once just to extend VISA issues, the other one to take a look at clorinda city.
Ita Ramada looks like the best place to get some fresh fish in this only eat meating country.

As of recently, the cost of the multiple entry visa has increased to $160usd. It is worth it to send your passport to the designated consulate general in the states or your appropriate consulate and get this instead of paying the same amount for the instant visa at the Silvio Pettirossi airport upon landing.
