of course it's ok, I would assume you are taking American Eagle gold coins as they are the easiest to pass through your carry ons which is how I take mine. I wouldn't bring any more than 5 coins at a time. Precious metals trades in PGY are generally more difficult since it is not looked upon the same way it is in most of the western world.
Precious metals int he form of jewelry is slightly more common and the exchange rates I've seen when I've been there don't get me all that excited. But if you are bringing your gold to store there "just in case" then by all means, no worries.

Thanks a lot for the answer, it is very hard to find anything on this topic on the internet or anywhere else. The problem is I have more than 5 coins and making different trips to be able to bring them all in is going to cost me too much, but so far I got some answer about it, thanks again.

Dear Friend,
reading your postings, I feel you have no idea about Paraguay.
DO NOT EVER TELL TO SOMEONE, OR DO NOT GET IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE via this, or any other Forum. PARAGUAY IS DANGEROUS. Just yesterday a girl of 22 was shot (death) for as little as a cellular phone. And you are talking about gold coins. Even the police at the airport could "organize" somewhat for you. Not somewhat you would like! What you just did is, in this country simply CRAZY. We are her since 7 years: 12 people we have known (two of them very good friends) were murdered. Murderers meanwhile, many free, "working" ... And you are talking about gold coins?? OPenly on the internet??? I am speechless! GOOD LUCK!!
