Good Day Expats.

I am moving to Paraguay in 18 months for some government work and I need to do some research.

I was curious if you could give me your personal opinion on the Pros and Cons of life in Asunción. In particular, the safest areas to live.

I am bringing my family so I prefer a for safe area for my wife and children as well as local amenities, ie. parks, schools, restaurants. ect.

Thanks for your opinions!

here goes a sugestion for lodging :

asuncionrent.com

specially prepared and oriented towards gringos.

The country has seen a fair share of Spanish, some that stayed in place, others could not resist the "cultural aclimatation" to that 3rd country, [ http://www.expat-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2699178#p2699178] .
Hopefully, you will only have to bare that situation for a limited time.

anibalventura,

Thank you for the response.

Actually the move to Paraguay is not set in stone, it is a "Potential" move so I am preparing in advance in case it becomes official. I will know early next year so I'd like to be prepared. Since this will be Government work, I am also reaching out to diplomatic personnel from various countries to see where the majority of them stay.

If I do end up in Paraguay I will be there for 5 years and I won't have a choice of whether to stay or go so I am looking for a new apartment complex in a secure location with appropriate amenities for the family.

I checked out the website you posted and it seems like a furnished apartment complex for business travelers. Considering I might need something long term and I will be shipping a container... Is there a website that you could recommend that has multiple listings of apartments and homes?

Also, what do you feel the good and bad things are regarding Asuncion.

Thanks for your help!
