Hello Expats!
I am preparing to move to Peru from the U.S. and want to bring my 2 cats. Does anyone know what the rules are? Do the cats need to be quarantined upon entry? If so, how does that work, who do I contact, etc? What shots (vaccinations), if any, do my cats need to have?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Hola! I moved to Peru a month ago, and brought my dog with me. When I went to the veteranarian in the U.S. they knew exactly what to do... they gave her a complete exam and updated her vaccinations, and gave me a certificate of good health to present to the officials upon arrival. When I got here, I simply had to show her paperwork and fill out a form, and pay about $25.
If you recieve advice on any vaccinations that should be taken care of once in Peru, please let me know. I'm assuming there are different needed vaccinations here, and I still haven't heard anything about health precautions for pets while living in Peru.
I hope I have helped you somewhat! Have a lovely trip, and let me know if you get any good information regarding pets!

My understanding is that cats from the US and other countries are destroyed or returned to the country of origin....I'm planning to move to Lima shortly and also want to bring 2 dogs and a cat....anyone know how to go about this? Dogs are ok...does the cat have to be smuggled in from Bolivia?

I have seriously considered moving to Peru, where I have close friends and have visited twice (including once for six months). But I have three cats and my understanding is that you cannot bring them into Peru. Have you found out anything to the contrary?
Thank you. K
