No, really, it is a friend's property, but he told me he would like to rent for US$300 per month, if it is a long term contract.
Have you search where Ica is?

It is a self catering apartment, however, there are some services offered for inexpensive rates: housekeeping and laundry.
The apartment has, included in the rent: cable TV, internet, direct dial phone, DVD, music equip, hot water, etc..
I would appreciate if you enter to the site: http://come.to/icaapartamento
and see the photos, the description and contact the owner, ok?
Thank you

I would say it is Ica, 4 hours south of Lima. It is a nice city, very safe, where an aprtment furlly furnished,e quipped and ecorated cost US$350 a month, including all utilities.
The weather is dry, compared to Lima, because is in a fertile valley with a desert sorrounding it. So, you have the only oasis in this part of the continent, clled Huacachina, where you can practice sandboarding.
Also it is 1 hour from the pacific ocean (Parcas, Pisco, Islas Ballestas), and it is the land of Nasca Lines...
The wineries are all around, the best grapes and mangos... food is very inexpensive.
Why do not you try to search all these new words to see by yourself...
I know the prtment for US$350. If you want, just drop me a line, ok?

Miraflores Peru is not a good place - I stayed in a hotel accross the street from JFK Park - the drug dealers and prostitutes were out there constantly

The money from the tourists and business people draws them in like flies.

Good luck

Ica is a good possibility, but it is not directly on the coast. On the other hand 300 dollars is cutting it really close for a gringo. You can find inexpensive housing that matches that price range, but generally you sacrifice security or creature comforts. You CAN monthly rent an apartment in a poor neighborhood of Lima (San Juan de Lurigancho or San Martin de Porres, for example) or in one the remoter cities or provinces for 35 bucks or a house for 100 bucks, but you're not going to find one of these online anywhere. You find them by coming here and getting someone locally to help you. If you want really cheap on the coast, then check out Chimbote, Chiclayo, Piura, Huacho, Huaral, or Trujillo.
