I need to recharge my batteries and am looking to re-connect with some joys, such as eating great food, which Peru, and perhaps Lima in particular, has lots of. (At least Anthony Bourdain thinks so:-). I would rather not just come on a whim or "vacation", which I haven't done for years. I am an ESL teacher and would like teach (while I'm doing all that eating) and learn Spanish. Any thoughts/recommendations/suggestions? I would consider volunteering my teaching time... Looking forward to hearing from someone, Best regards, Karen

Seems you have an appetite. Well, good food abounds in all of Peru. Probably the most abundant right from the airport jobs for English speaking Expats is to teach English so if you click around these two other sites I am certain you can find what you want and start packing. I moved to Trujillo last June.... it will be a year in three days....and this site and the other two were great help in getting things done...... pistachio

Thank you, Pistachio! Yes, I am ESL/TESOL certified with a B.A. and Master's degree in history and law. Thank you for the sites. Sadly there are only a couple of job postings there, so I understand it will be difficult. Still, I'm committed to re-connecting with joyful, positive things, as mentioned - like eating great food (and meeting kind people and ESL teaching) so will keep looking. Please let me know if you ever hear of anything or if there is anything I can do for you, best best best regards, Karen (email is kmilleresq@earthlink.net)

Hey Karen,
My name is Cynthia and I am from Perú. I teach Spanish and sometimes I have people who ask me for English teachers. I think you can earn some money while you are eating here. Maybe I can help you also with homestay. Tell me how long you want to stay here and what kind of trip you are planning
