Really..... a lot comes to mind when I read your note. And, there are Lots of questions in it..... too many to address at once.... I think your putting the cart in front of the horse.... Have you visited South America. It is best to make an extended visit and travel around to get a feeling for any particular country you are interested in. I know just preparing to move just myself was quite a task, but with a family and children / well,, you have to make the right choice the first time. If your going to settle here you need to think about obtaining residency and that is quite a process but can be done. Land prices in all of Peru are inordinately high as is housing. This happened some say as a reaction to the US housing crisis. Buying property here is tricky and contracting construction is also a very intense effort. About your car... !what your suggesting is very very tricky and there are Too Many places where your plan to drive across the border with you Toyota could fail and then your entire plan collapses. Peru does not allow vehicles over 5 years old and over 50,000km in to the country. This is not going to be easy to get around and even if you get past the border you will have to register your car and it won't register. There are many many Many cars, 4wd and pickups and such that you can buy New w/ Zero miles. You will avoid the thousands of $'s to get your car here And, you won't have that potential failure point in your plan.
Your plan I will say is very ambitious and I wish you well. I live in Trujillo Peru and feel welcome to ask any questions that you may have.
