Apartment in Lima

Is it reasonable to budget an apartment cost in decent neighborhoods with $600 USD a month? Apartments in Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco appear to be more expensive. My wife and I will visit Lima this summer and try to find an apartment for our permanent move later this year.

I have another question. Are there many pet-friendly apartments in Lima? We will bring our golden retriever to Lima with us.

I appreciate your help in advance.

It should not be too hard to find a 1 bedroom for that price. Obviously, no one will hold an apartment for you and a good deal is gone in no time. Keep in mind that prices quoted do not include maintenance or arbitrios (RE taxes) and together they could equal $100.00/mth, for a nice doorman building and usually less for an older, smaller building or a walk up. Also two months security is generally required and most likely will not be returned if the owner is Peruvian.

I forgot to mention that dogs are usually ok and no additional deposit is required. Make sure it is put in your lease.

Alipineprice,

Thank you for your response. So we should budget $700 a month if we want to live around the best area (Miraflores, San Isidro, etc.).

$700 a month should be good. It is a renter's market right now, Example, in Jan I rented a three bedroom place two blocks from the ocean (Ave Jose Pardo) and paid $750.00 mth ( + s/280 maintenence) with a guaranteed 5% increase each year. They wanted $900.00 mth to start with. Now there is a apartment like mine 3 floors up and they are asking $1,000.00 mth and it has been sitting empty for a month.

Hello there,
The prices are quite high in san Isidro and Miraflores but there are other great and safe neighborhoods.
I am moving out of a place in a week and I pay 1600 soles which is about $478 USD. The place has 3b/3b. The place also has a covered parking spot. The apartment is in abuilding that has 24 hr. security staff. It allows pets, Yes! The neighborhood is Magdalena del Mar. email: burgessnancy7@gmail.com

For nice rentals in Lima or Miraflores I like http://premierCasa.com They are full service apartments so a bit expensive for a long term solution but great to move there for the first month and look around as the best deals come from signs on the street that you call and are not on the web.
