there are now quite a few ways of becoming a resident these days. 1. you can now retire to peru, you can obtain residency if you have a thousand dollars monthly verified income per month. however you can not work. 2. you can marry a Peruvian person 3. you can be a skilled worker an have a job, again with a thousand dollar income. 4, you can start a business, again with a thousand dollar income varified. but you have to have 1 peruvian employee minium. after being a resident for 2 years you are allowed to apply for citizenship in Peru. I married, but could qualify for any of the programs. the best method is to get a lawyer and have them cover all your bases.

It is readily available for you to apply to become a Peruvian Resident and get the Carnet de Extranjeria.... like the infamous Green Card in the States.
However,, the process is confusing and complex having to fulfill much proof and documentation as part of the application.
So,, Peru welcomes you without waiting or interference but plan to spend some days fulfilling your application requirements and waiting about 3 months once submitted.
Insurance for good care in many network clinics is available but can cost as much as 1000 s/. per month.
The $1000 per month income requirement can come from any source provided you can get documents that are Proof that it is automatic and continuing. You will have to bring your documents to an Official Translator,, pay his fee and then submit them with the application.
It would be a good idea for you to visit and travel a little before making any firm decisions.

I didn't make the reply but when I looked into Private Insurance from Pacifico and Rimac and Positiva I found them coming in about 12,ooo to 14,ooo Soles annually. [ I do not know what the normal full price of a Dr. visit but with a copay with insurance I have seen about 30 s/.

ok,,, it is a lot of Running around the City completing all portions of the Application Steps. Plan to spend about three to five days over two trips to Lima to complete it all,. For instance,, you take your Income doc to the translator and he says it will be ready in two days,, then you have to go back / pick it up and submit... Even at Migraciones you can wait Hours for getting to the window. Offices and business close from 1 to 3 pm so that can make things pretty inefficient.... I took 14 taxis in two days time putting together my app... But... by easy,,,, I think the last writer meant that It is Easily Available...and readily offered by Peru.... not referring to the Process of getting it Which Is Torture.... LoL !
but it is a once and done process.. so when you have it,, there are no more complications......It Is Done !

Yes it's really easy to become a resident in Peru, but not really a breeze if you're new and like to get things done fast. You will have to do a lot of leg work. For me, it was no hassle since i considered the run around an adventure. Go at it with a positive outlook is what i would advise.
So yeah, easy but a little time consuming. You could hire a lawyer, there is always that path to simplify things for you.
