Hows the rum in Peru? Anybody care to chime in on the subject? I googled and came up with Cartavio y Millionario.....How is the quality and the pricing there in the country? Also is there much development of craft beer in Peru, like in Chile and Ecuador now........?

An observer would have to conclude that the expat community in Peru is one lackluster turned off group..........Either that or youre all hungover on rot gut rum.........

Including myself, there are only two expats that post on this site. I do not drink rum or beer, Maybe Pistachio does. They do have craft beer here in Lima and I have seen it in some of the Selva Alto towns as well. Expats will not pay for it and in Lima prefer Pilsen Callao. I used to spend lots of time drinking in Bars and never saw an expat drink rum. It is widely available in the grocery stores and seem to have many brands.

So Alpine, is that to say that there are so few expats in Peru? Or just so few who have discovered expatexchange? Are there quite a few living in Trujillo and/or Chiclayo? I had a Peruvian/Japanese novia in Costa Rica from Chiclayo and she was hot as a firecracker.......lots of Japanese influence in the gene pool there?

The majority of expats are from SA with Colombia representing 9k at last count. The # of English speaking expats is probably far less. The majority of Expats live in Lima unless they are in mining in that case they will be in mining towns. Out of all the people I know here in Lima, no one has ever mentioned this forum and I only look once in awhile.
