If your new to Peru then the best way to see cultural sites is on tour. Tours are readily available and arrange hotel and sometimes some meals and transport.
The packages are tailored and I am sure you can ask for a English speaking tour guide.

The most popular visit is Macchu Picchu... which is a train ride from Cusco,, the Incan Capital City.........

You have to fly from Lima to Cusco and will stay in Cusco for a few days one of which will be the day you visit the old Mountain Site..............

Lima is a huge city spread out for miles... but the city we think of as Lima is much smaller......

Maybe you will be traveling with a native Peruvian friend so surely you can tour Historic Lima together but I am sure you could find a day tour and learn and experience a lot.......

Outside of Lima a short trip away is Lunahuana,, a wonderful trip near the river, kind of resort like and really,, as far from Lima atmosphere as the moon....

To the north is Huarez,, a mysterious place with lots of sites to visit... and you can walk up to a glacier.........

Further north is Peru's second most populous city area,,, Trujillo and just outside,, Huanchaco,, a comfortable beach town with a lot of Peruvian tourists visiting on weekends... here you can rest, surf, relax and eat...........

A special place also is Cajamarca,,, and famous also.... it is higher up in elevation and is a lot different than the coastal desert...........

Really,, you cannot go wrong with where ever you visit...

wherever in Peru that you travel there are archeological sites to vist

In remote places Peruvians live a lot like they did hundreds of years back so you can even travel time........

I do not think you have to plan so much ahead but the trip to Cusco / Macchu Picchu will take some travel and timing plans................

oh,, I forgot,, safety.........

There is theft here on the street so I hear...
I have been all over Lima and Trujillo and never had a bad experience.
Cars are vulnerable to petty accessory theft if left on the street overnight....

Lots of people asking for change,,, and many people performing acts for change and selling chiclets and other items at stoplights.........

Of course,, there are bad places so if your thinking of going somewhere downtown in Lima or a neighboring community good to ask ahead of time...

NIGHT is more dangerous than day,, but isn't that true everywhere.......

I think you need to be aware and safeguard your belongings and secure cash, keys and cell phone on your person but really,, you will be ok.......

Carry Toilet Paper,, you will not find in bathrooms anywhere ... this might make you laugh but it is very true. You won't be laughing confronted with that situation that might arise if you don't.................LoL !!

ok,,,

if you have any specific questions write back...........
