you sure you want to live in baguio? I tried living there about 6 months ago and I found that the locals are not very friendly to foriegners. but if you must live there, theres a condo/hotel type building across from the park that rents for 18k per month. ill try to think of the name of the building and the name of the realtor I dealt with if you want

Lots of transient places to stay here.I found a 1 bedroom with bathroom.common kitchen area for 6000pesos for the month. All utilities are paid amd theres even a laundry room there free to use.Resto bar/restuarant on first floor.its 5 mins walking distance from sm mall on Engineer road.Called CALONES and previous name when i was there was TOKI WIFI INN.Good management and free wi fi.Vey convenient town/shopping untill you can find a more likable place.I pay 7,000 in a nice apartment 2 bedroom and there is 1 apartment left here thet may be available when you get here for 5,000 a month. Its unfurnished.Owner is American with Pinay wife. Also a single American here and Another American guy with Pinay wife.Nice area near town with secure front gate.Email me on my private email if you are interested.Jimmy in Baguio(Been here since July 2012)

18k does seem one hell of a lot of money for basically a hotel room but I might be wrong

Thanks jimmylew for clarifying that. To the guy who thinks that 18k is a fair price, I basically dont care what some idiot pays for his rent , but what happens is when u pay a rent that high, it causes future rents to remain high for people such as myself and other foreigners. For your information I have many us friends where I live and they are renting beautiful fully furnished apartments right on the beach for 6k and thats everything including dishwasher!. I have other friends in town also on parks for 2,800 a month for 1 bedroom apartments with balconies. I often wonder what would make someone want to live in baguio, where I beleive u should be paying half the normal due to there being no beaches. But hey go ahead have fun getting ripped off if thats what turns u on mate.

hey poo chewer... if you want to live in a transient house, then be my guest. where I stayed was a 2 bedroom fully furnished condo with a king size bed and internet and cable tv included. maybe you should do some research on the area before you start spitting out all your chewed up poo

Let me see I don't need to do any research, seeing as I own my own house and I meet with all the expats in my city every morning and get the latest news, but let's start with cable and internet. I pay 465 pesos for all of that luxury. What else have u got that makes your place a palace at the top of a mountain? How about you take a cruise around one of the most beautiful countries on this planet, and then you will find all it's treasures, instead of living and being ripped off like a tourist.

Poo, please lighten up a bit will you? This is a place where everybody should feel comfortable sharing their experiences. Some reveal wisdom, some our inexperience, sometimes we were 'asleep at the wheel'. The latter happens to all of us. To read you're posts, To read your posts, nearly everybody is an idiot but you. Helpfulness is appreciated by all, but condemnation and name calling, not so much. Please continue to be the helpful guy that you often are, but consider reigning the put-downs. Thanks.

Oh I'm so sorry. You were trying to help a friend. Boy if if that's how u treat friends by recommending they pay a fortune for rent then I'm glad I'm not your friend. Anyway this is my last post on this subject so have a good life.

Cateacher as u well know there is a lot of idiots out there.I should know cos I used to be one myself. Most of us are idiots when we first go to the Philippines. But hey guess what? I'm not one now. So I feel that I am reasonably qualified to figure out who's an idiot or not.Now most sensible people of my age say to themselves "i don't have time for idiots anymore I'm to old" but what I have done on this forum I feel is give a little of my time and effort to help out someone or some idiot as the case may be, so that he might not fall into some of the traps that I have fallen into. Now as I have stated I used to be an idiot. No mistake about that, and if being a little negative at times and not dancing around the truth like some, is what I have to do to help other people then maybe I am on the wrong forum.

i think calling someone an idiot because they dont know the ins and outs of the philippines is very harsh we all joined this forum to learn something and to give some hopefully helpful advice we can all learn and its sometimes learnt by others mistakes i think poo your negativity and arrogance is sometimes over the top most of what you say is very true but you put it across in a very insulting way sometimes

Tommieboy,
I have mentioned this in the past but I'll do it again because it does come up often. Like every place the prices of ones budget to survive in the Philippines can vary a lot. A good portion of that depends on two things; how much you spend on nightlife / food ( eating in or eating out regularly) and your rent. For two people, you can survive on anywhere from $500-$2500 a month. It depends on your lifestyle. If you can afford to and have the budget of the latter, good for you. Not all of us have that luxury. Many of us try not to have animosity toward others but our partners probably will be envious of nicer apartments/homes etc... I suggest to everyone to hang around people who live in the same budget as yourself. In general Filipinos are very materialistic.

thanks for all the feedback guys. but I have lived in the Philippines for almost 5 years and ive lived in 7 different cities. im not a newbie, nor am I an idiot for paying 18k for a 2 bedroom fully furnished condo overlooking the baguio park. its a beautiful building and I pay the same there as everyone else. im not getting ripped off and you can check the rents there. I have paid 5k a month for a home in surigao city and as much as 25k a month in Cebu city. now im paying 11k in cdo. sorry for getting everyone in an uproar on this site, and next time I try to help someone ill send them a private message. happy new year friends

Some are ignorant of knowledge and some are inept in communication skills only possessing basic colloquial language. Reading basic primers could vastly expand their vocabulary with balance and serenity the ultimate goal. Others with mental deficiencies would rather estole their feeling of simulated superiority thus comforting their ego as having arrived .

Ok fellas, you see now that my theory is correct. Brutal honesty it's the best policy.see for yourself how long it took you guys to finally tell me what you really think of me. Anyway I can say that I have enjoyed talking on this forum.I think I learnt some things myself.Anyway take care all and always remember, that sometimes in the future when you hear someone giving advice, and they sound a bit "arrogant" it might just mean that they have seen a bit of life, and they don't want anymore to waste time with pretending to be nice like many other people. Take care all you good people out there.

Thanks for that mate. I appreciate that, but in actual fact I think I might actually be one of those "sensitive" ones. Cos I did take those comments to heart. Nowone in the world likes to be told they are negative and arrogant, but when you really think about it, the way this world is heading now, you would have to be hiding under a rock not to become quite negative at the things you see and also arrogant towards the crazy things that are ruining our once wonderful world. Its a very happy new year to you and everyone out there whether you are an idiot or not.

As I watched this thread unfold I kept telling myself i wouldnt say anything but now apparently Poochewer is saying good bye....Hey Poo, nobody wants you to go, so stick around ok?
All of us as we go through life run into folks who maybe dont use the best words to convey thoughts. Im not excusing them but we also have to understand that there as many different personalities as Carter has little liver pills. I dont think anyone on here really wants anyone to go, I sure dont

We all have different budgets. It's possible to live in the Philippines for two from $500-$3000 USD. If someone's budget allows them to spend that much, power to them. As long as they are not complaining about the prices, I have no comment. It's those who never check around, think they know too much and then overpay and complain that are my pet peeves. We all have different personalities, but there is a lot to be learned from those of us who have put in the time with good and bad experiences. So bear with us. Don't be offended, and get great free advice that you can't find on the internet. Yes, one year, two years, 5 years you can learn an experience a lot. Those of us who have 10, 20, 25+ years in the wonderful world of the Philippines have 3x, 5x, 10x more experience. You don't have to believe everything you read but open your mind and listen.
