OK guys I'm once again looking to soak up some of y'all weath of experience. My Girlfirend lives in Iligan City. I just bought her an iphone. Yes, gave her the money. (please don't, Im aware). She ordered from Manila since she had never seen iphone and didn't know any local merchants. Well, you guessed it. It's a fake. An android made to look like an iphone. To top it off she can't get it to work.
Any info on obtaining a genuine iphone in phils?
I wanted her to learn the iphone since it's simplistic and I am an avid iphone user. Any tips?

You can get a good working iphone at the big malls. They also have an Apple outlet there. You will pay more than buying it from a street vendor, but the quality will be better. Stick to the know brands, like Samson.

I thought Apple had shops in most big malls? I have never heard of fake coming from there. Then you can go back and complain.

I like that idea. One question tlallen59 if you don't mind.
1. Power adapter. Will the US one work in phils?
Are there apple outlet in Iligan City that anyone knows about?

Live in the real world !!! Unless you bought it and gave it to her on a golden plate ...You do not know she had it atall ...I am happy married to a Filipino lady ....But I would not trust them . Sorry Everyone that writes in here you must live and experience the Mentality of Philippines first. Everything is possible there , with money and AWARENESS. ..I have with my wife two homes in Philippines , and we live between UK and there . I have seen a lot ....out of Manila .

I can only agree with the last post. If a lady friend tells me she was tricked out of something I gave her, I have sometimes suspected it simply ended up in the pawn shop or with a relative.
But I know nothing of the actual case. There is always an exception to the rule.

If she bought the phone online cheap then expect a fake. I phones are a real luxury here but samsung , LG, Nokia etc are all available in sm mall, plus somecheaper makes. i have a my phone and an skk tablet both work well and no problems in over a year. Be careful just sending money for this money for that. If she needed a phone there are many much cheaper than iPhone, if she was not satisfied with anything less then I would not buy her one at all. An iPhone will be a status symbol on her part. Unfortunately I agree with Peter7. I live here no it just a visitor, you have to be very careful with your money, very careful
