For those arriving on a one year Balikbayan entry, the Balikbayan stamp can be renewed after one year at a Bureau of Immigration office.
This can be done up to three years in total, without needing any additional requirements.

I think it is something new. At least it is new on the BoI website.
No idea yet if there is a charge or not, although they rarely give things free, except the Balikbayan, so who knows.

There is nothing on the boi site about it at all. It refers to the balikbayan ( which is NOT a visa), being eligable to convert to a tourist visa upon completion of the 12mth visa-free period.

poochewer: What are you on about?
This is about balikbayan stamp. I never mentioned Visa, you did.
Note that the words talk about Balikbayans who have stayed in the Philippines for 3 years. If the BoI is wrong, and a Balikbayan can only be for one year, then maybe you can tell them.
They may be wrong, I get the feeling that you know much more than I do about it, but I am only passing on what the BoI are saying.
The words on the BoI site about Balikbayan entry say:
"Those who are admitted as Balikbayans are given an initial stay of one (1) year. They may extend their stay for another one (1), two (2) or six (6) months provided that they present their valid passport and filled out the visa extension form and submit it to the Visa Extension Section in the BI Main Office or any BI Offices nationwide. An additional requirement will be ask for Balikbayans who have stayed in the Philippines after thirty six (36) months."
Just because you haven't seen it does not mean it is NOT there. It seems to be a new page.

poochewer : You say: "More misleading information from abcdiamond?"
What misleading information are you talking about ?
Yes, I have contradicted you about various things, mainly related to your statements that everything is cheap in the Philippines everywhere you go, and that people are stupid to pay more than you do.
I have never disagreed that things CAN be cheap, but I do day that things can be expensive too.
I personally don't like to be told that I am stupid because I choose to spend more than some, even though I actually spend less than the average Expat in the Philippines, because I am careful in what I spend.
Not everyone wants to spend totally cheap, but isn't it good that they are aware of the fact that some areas are expensive?
Or am I wrong? Is that my misleading information, when I say that not everything is cheap?
The average Expat spends near enough 95,000 peso per month living here. It does however vary between under 40,000 to over 250,000. You are in one group, I am in another, and then there are the others who make me look like I am living cheap...

Like I said , you have missunderstood the info on the website yet again. Those words do not mean what you are implying. I urge you not to keep jumping to conclusions and leading people astray on this forum. People want the correct information on here.

Balikbayans MUST leave the country for a period of 24hrs and return with their spouse, to avail of the bb stamp again, and a new 1yr period begins. The other alternative is , after 1yr, you convert to being a tourist. You are then asked to fill out a "visa" application to become escentually, a tourist. These "tourist" extentions can continue for a period of 3 yrs max.

poochewer: I am NOT implying any words. I am quoting what is on the BoI site: "An additional requirement will be ask for Balikbayans who have stayed in the Philippines after thirty six (36) months." http://www.immigration.gov.ph/index.php/faqs/visa-inquiry/balikbayan-previlege
If people are wrong to think this means that a Balikbayan can stay in the Philippines for thirty six (36) months. (as it says on the BoI)" then maybe this post will do some good, and you can tell the BoI not to print such misleading information.
It is not my words, it is the BoI. So please let them know so they can correct it.
I have not Misunderstood anything, I have just quoted them, and said that I have no idea if there is any cost involved.
You seem to have misunderstood this post and thought it was my opinion.
But you also say: "yet again" Tell me where I have "missunderstood the info on the website" before .....
And how about answering other questions where i ask you to back up statements you make.. but don't...
2nd thoughts. Don't bother, I know you won't change. You have this forum and keep pushing your agenda for only living in cheap places, and ignoring the fact that some people prefer other places to you.
You say I lead people astray here. How ? by saying how the other half live? By showing that some places are more expensive than yours? By making people aware that not everything is cheap?
I've been on various ex pat forums since 2003, and never come across someone quite like you before. You are like my ex wife, you only see one way, and are not prepared to look at another alternative point of view.

advice to some expats here. Don't take it as it is what is stated in the BOI website because officers in different locations have different interpretations and you would be suprised big time when one says this is this and that and the other officer says "no" that's not what it means. That's how PH gov't works.

Do not forget abcdiamond that u started this thread and in that thread u stated "the Balikbayan stamp can be renewed after one year at a Bureau of Immigration office." well this is simply not true. In fact a balikbayan stamp itself, cannot be given at a boi office. It can only be given at point of entry. Look it up smartboy.

well I know how my country works, that's why and I read a lot and also listen to other people's experiences. You can't even force an immigration officer to give a BB stamp, sometimes they have mood swings. But one thing I'm sure, those immigration officer in the airport don't even know much about the immigration laws, so the best thing a person can do is print out the most recent law or ruling from the government website and show it to the Immigration in charge in that way they can't deny or bar you based from what is recently written law or rulings.
