$500-$5000 a month??

It can be done for a single guy to live in the Philippines for under $500 a month. Look up Shadow's post about Bataan. A lot depends on where you live (rent), how much you spend on transportation (own your own car/motorcycle or use public transportation and a bicycle) your food budget (cooking and eating at home rather than eating out often) and your entertainment budget (alcohol and women). Many guys choose to have a live in girlfriend which often saves on your food budget and entertainment budget. Just be careful if and when you break up. Philippines women can be very vengeful.

We live on $350 a month. I have no car or vehicle. Jeepney's and tricycles are so cheap, I see no need for having one. I have a wife and her 18 year old nephew living with us. We don't suffer any deprivations and actually live better than many about us. A big help is having a fair sized vegetable garden that saves us a lot of money.

The nephew works and is saving his money to start a modern swine farm, so we don't ask any $$ from him. He is responsible and helps out with the chores without asking.

Charkee,
I actually thought it could be done for less than $500USD but I didn't want to stir up crazy comments. Where are you located? I mean what area of the Philippines?

@acepoolplayer, I live in Santa Rosa City, about 20 miles south of Manila. I have a 2 bedroom bungalow about 60 square meters. It's clean and comfortable. Rent is 7000php or about $160. We lived in a clean 40 square meter apartment on the lake for about $50 a month, but the danger of flooding was a constant fear during the rainy season. It was a bit of a slum area, it was noisy but the neighbors all watched out for each other.
