Making Solar Panels

New Topic Newest First

Hi Guys
I live in Compostela, and would like to meet and exchange ideas with other expats with a view to making solar panels.
I have previous experience of solar and wind generators whilst living in S. Africa.
I have potential customers, and land available to build a small factory and small capitol.
Voltage Regulators and Inverters
are easily available, solar panels are expensive, let`s make our own!.
Interested?, please contact me.

I expect you already know this but as a foreigner you can only own 40% of a business here the other 60% must belong to a Filipino national but I would bet my bottom dollar the Filipino will expect you to finance it 100%

Ok so he puts 60% in his wife's name now you are investing in a company that you can only have a share of 40% what happens the day you want to pull out and sell your shares I am not a business mogal but honestly I don't see anyone investing in this idea. I do actually know an English guy who set up here selling and installing solar panels he had to cut loose from his original Filipino partners because of greed. I am not sure if he is still going but the time I knew of his business he was not able to take a salary in nearly two years. Bad management on his part maybe I don't know I will try to fins out if the company is still running

That is very sad to hear no salary for 2 years . If one sets up and starst a company being the major financier they need to put In check and balances to make sure things are running smoothly . The accountant needs to be on top of things , just because one owns 40% and one owns 60% on paper doesn't mean the 40% owner can't make 100% of the decisions in which way the business heads . Nothing ventured nothing gained . Best of luck ...!!!

Good few repeats there. I am not sure of his finance in the company. He is still going here I saw his website, my guess is he is an agent for a European company selling and installing in se asia . there are very cheap Chinese panels here already but I think the quality is crap. The European panels are more expensive but have a long warranty and full technical back up. By the looks of it, its doing fairly well, but as we know in the Philippines its buy as cheap as possible if it only lasts a couple of years they will face that problem when they come to it. Having said all that if you get finanance and get going then the best of luck to you.

Philippines gives us no motivation, only risks.

Can't own land, can't own a business. Yup, wifey can own most but that won't encourage investors/partners.

Wifey might go out of line one day.

Even just to live here, government makes you run around and take money from you.

Pathetic mentality. Think of how much capital the country would attract (together with jobs) if no such restrictions?

No, let the Filipinas work overseas, for miserable salaries and physical abuse in the M.E. While much of it is wasted here by the beneficiaries.

I would have brought in php 50,000,000 + if not for this stupidity.

Never mind the risk of kidnappings.

Hi Allen,

Interesting, have you found someone already to do business. i am interested with your project. But this must require a huge capital investment.

If I was one of the urban poor and lived in a steel roofed shack I'd see where I could steal the components from. The problem though is the result of a multiple leaking roof during the rainy season.

As regards solar panels, I would assemble the very best triple junction 2nd generation (cell) to reduce the number of modules required then buy a grid connected inverter.
