My wife and I are retiring in a couple of years and the Philippines is one of the possibilities to investigate. We are both scuba divers and would like this to be part of our regular weekly lifestyle. Any suggestions on where might be some good areas to begin researching? We lived in the Caribbean for awhile and love the shore diving possibilities as we have all our own equipment and didn't have buy a seat on a dive boat. So areas that might have shore diving would be the first choice but not exclusively. Thanks!

This sounds almost identical to what we are looking into. Retiring in 3 yrs, Both divers, lived in the Caribbean for a few years, exclusively shore diving as we have all our own gear including tanks as well. I have been do a ton of research and the area that keeps coming up is Moalboal. I have actually chatted with a couple living there and found that shore diving is a possibility. What I don't know is how easy are the entry points accessed(public or private land). we are about 3 years out from the move. We should stay in contact and share information as we come across it.

Puerto Galera in the island of Mindoro is very popular with divers, they tend to go out on small boats though but I suppose you could walk out in the water until you get
waist deep or so and go from there.
you could always also hire a small boat yourself and it would not be
expensive. been meaning to take courses to learn scuba diving and that's where I will most likely do it.
