Has anyone tried to renew a driver's license recently? Have you gotten the laminated license?

I just renewed mine in Tagaytay and got the paper version but they imprinted on the back what would normally be the plastic laminated version with my picture which is what I had hoped for because of the value of a picture I.D. on some occasions.

Has anyone received a new license plate? I heard they were supposed to be released a while back and still nothing.

Just renewed my Professional Drivers License this month. 250PHP for medical (eye test) and 750PHP for license renewal. Non-Pro License is cheaper. Waited for about an hour to get the receipt you mentioned. They say they were out of those plastic cards and come back next year.
As for the license plate (Euro-style), I've renewed my car registration for the past two years and still no new license plate available. (Something to do with some LTO officials embezzling the funds to procure new license plate). Typical Philippines, no complaint here. I'm used to it.

Same here in both DL and plates. Just receipt and told they would call IF they came in. Did get a windshield sticker for the plate. Heard most don't even get that but if you look you paid for it. It is fun looking at the homemade plates showing up now. Some are really well done.

LarryKar,

We did not receive a window sticker either. No reason given.

We also have seen a couple of homemade plates, one saying in tagalog...."No plate yet, what's the new date?'

I was just happy to get the photo of what would normally be a real plastic laminated license imprinted on the back of the receipt with my pic.

Agreed, no sense in complaining, it's simply gives you a headache.

Maybe next year?

Haven't renewed my DL but I just renewed my registration on my motorcycle and for the first time since I bought it in 2012 I was given a new 2016 sticker

There is a container full of license plates sitting at a port dock somewhere because nobody will pay the Customs fee.

Why aren't those things made here? The only vehicles that need a new plate are those sold new, because they are not smart enough to just move the plate with the owner, not the vehicle as in most places.
