Just wondering if I have this right and if anyone can help me understand the requirements. I am 66 years old and have been married to a Filipina for 22 years now. We own a house on Panglao island which is half paid off. There is around $60,000 in equity on it now or around 3 million Pesos. If I understand the requirements right for a SRRV visa, I can use this equity instead of putting $10 to $20 thousand dollars in a bank there? Any knowledgable help concerning this topic is greatly appreciated.

I would tend to believe that the answer would be no.
Here are a couple of links with contacts who can answer your question definitively
From an email:
"Thank you for your interest in the retirement program of the Philippine government. This is to confirm receipt of your PRA Registration. Please see the attached letter regarding the Special Resident Retiree's Visa (SRRV). I included also to attach the application form, medical examination clearance form and the remittance instruction for the visa deposit. Should you have further clarification, feel free to send us email at [email protected]. Thank you.
Very truly yours,
NARICRIS B. SISON Market Specialist " ___________________________________________________________________________________
Another contact:

There are also a couple rep on Facebook, just type ......SRRV.......into the search window and go.
Good luck.

I sent a message to an SRRV rep for clarification. We are leaving the house now to take care of a little business and will send an email to the other contacts at the PRA later in the day.
In the past, it has taken from 1 to 3 days for them to reply.
I will post any response.

Just wondering why you want an SRRV. Since you are married to a Filipina, just apply for a 13A prmanent resident visa. No investment required. The first year is probationary. After that you can get permanent.

I have not used my equity in our real estate holding in the Philippines to get my SRRV yet. But I intend to do so in the spring. So I have not gone thru the process. I will let you now how it goes when I apply and the approval process and problems, if any, I encounter.

Hi Good Morning Draks the only Benefit I can think of is your totally independent of your wife because if you split from your wife you lose your marriage visa but if you have the srrv it makes no difference

You could loose your 13a but it is unlikely, unless someone has it in for you.

Well there is no divorce here so if you split she can't remarry either.
