Hi all. I am serious about moving to dumaguete this year. I am a 51 year old man and have been a telecommunications engineer for 26 years working for Bt as both a contractor and now directly employed by them. Can anyone perhaps tell me what my job prospects might be like over there please Thanks

Hi Job prospects over here for foreigners are very thin on the ground people who do work usually work for themselves many fail as they tend to do what everybody else has tried e.g. Dari sari store, Internet cafe , Eaterys some do actually make it I know of one expat who raises pigs, in your case have a look on line before you come here that way you will have an Idea of your chances also you have to sort out work permits etc with immigration

Hi again Telecommunication skills could be good for you as the Internet here is diabolical to say the least Last November I applied to upgrade my Broadband , to date I'm lucky if I get 1.87 mbps

Even if you found a job here in telecommunications which is highly unlikely, you would be earning very little money. The only way you can really work here is if you work for a British or American company that will send you here to work, but to be honest they are few and far between. Most come here and live off their pension. Jobs here are few and far between even for Filipino. So your chances although not impossible but very slim.

You might want to check with your Embassy and see what kind of jobs they have to offer. I know that the United States have jobs listed on USA Jobs for the Embassy in Manila.
