I have heard some 'not so good' things about mail service in the Philippines and want to know if anyone has had problems receiving their new replacement credit or debit cards from your American bank. Are there any reliable Philippine banks that offer credit/debit cards?

As long as your Bank has your correct address you should not have a problem as I renewed mine last year and had no problem

I thought they only send the card to the bank accounts registered address. If your account is registered in USA then I think that's the only address they will send it. I would not have a card sent by ordinary mail many letters are opened if they think there is something valuable inside. Takes 2 or 3 weeks normal mail, about 5 days by courier

Remember too mail is really " snail mail" in Phil. From the USA it is usually three or four weeks. Unlike some reports however I have never had a problem with PhilPost.

As long as you inform your bank that you live in the Philippines and they have that address you will not have a problem , also I had my replacement card sent by the Bank via DHL

It really depends on the bank. I have had Chase send me a new card once and my wife also had to get a new card from chase. I had lost mine and Chase had me a new card in 3 days to my apartment in Manila. I also had it sent to a friend in Dubai once so thye could bring it to me in Iraq, and another time I had a card sent to me overnight while I was in London. These were all Chase cards.
I had to get a new card in Kuwait one time and Navy Federal would only send it to my house in the US and they my wife had to forward it to me. So, it really depends on the bank.

I lived in the Philippines for five years. The mail is slow arriving from the US. My bank could not overnight my card, but I requested that it be overnighted in the US to my friend. He overnighted my card via UPS and FedEx. If you have a lost or stolen passport and wallet, you may need funds immediately. Have friends or family western union or money gram funds. If you don't have ID, have them send it to a trusted friend or girlfriend.
The thing I miss most about the Philippines is convenience. Even in the province, there are 24 hour internet cafes. When I lost my passport and wallet, the embassy was quick to issue an emergency passport. With that, I received western union funds while waiting for my debit card to arrive by FedEx. Within a week, I replaced most of my documents (passport, acr card, debit, driver's license).
