No one will be moving to Davou for a while this problem in Mindanaou is far from over. And may spread yet. Rents will be cheap for a hole yet.

draks ~ New Department of Tourism tag line: Firefights are more fun in the Philippines.

I think that comment is very insensitive in the light of those Philippine soldiers who died fighting Terrorism last week , you need to think what you post this is not a game people have lost their homes and many civilians have died , this may seem like an opportunity to make fun of the Philippines and its fight against terrorism

I posted a genuine new topic to try to help any expats trying to find a cheap place to rent Goldwarrior but that is low even for you

Actually your wrong as a few expats are coming at the end of the month , Marawi is over 8/9 hrs away from Davao and the city is well protected it was the Davao Task force who caught the head of the Maute clan and other members of the family

That's the difference between people who actually live in Davao who know what is going on and those who spout crap about the city

seernai

Actually Tourism is up 88% this month in Davao alone , so much for your negativity ??

GoldWarrior

Who, other than you, said anything about Davao? I said the Philippines. Regardless, I would imagine that 2,500 pesos per month neighborhoods are pretty much the same everywhere. Probably very clean, quiet, and safe with great neighbors.

seernai

Come off it Gold warrior the topic was specifically about cheap rental in Davao not the whole Philippines

seernai
  6/15/2017 09:26 EST

And no,neighborhoods are not the same unless of course you have visited every neighborhood in the Philippines some are better than others and are very upmarket others like Deca are mid range with good facilities like a swimming pool , club house , Basketball and volleyball ball courts with a nice view of the mountains and a good range of small to medium size stores ,houses also vary in size from mansions to condos to Bungalows and loft type houses also some subdivisions have CCTV with Security Guards who actually work and patrol , like I said everywhere is not the same

WOW! Very clean, quiet, and safe with great neighbors AND a swimming pool for 2,500 per month. I'm sold!

Yes it is but those bungalows are very small ok for a couple with no kids

Still not a good time to think about settling in Mindanao Seernai, I know you have some military there but let's be honest mate they are not really very effective, even with bombing the area they can't evict a few hundred rebels without losing many of their own.
I hope and pray that Davou stays safe but it doesn't look good there. Now heavily armed men have been spotted in a neighbouring town.
Stay safe Seernai.

Thanks Draks but I will take my chances here as unlike my town in the uk I don't get beer bottles thrown at me

Sounds like the UK and Oz have a lot in common.

GoldWarrior

draks ~ Yes, being honest is key. I seem to recall Philippine troops being sent there without food. Kinda hard to be effective when you don't even consider the basics. The heavily armed militants seem to be more effective.

seernai

Yes they put a load of druggies In a block of apartments so anyone going past at night has to dodge the bottles

Not only that but Foreign visitors are up 91% just google it I was as supprised as you are I have seen plenty of foreigns in the malls and some going up to the crocodile park and there has been steady trade in Jack Ridge Resort also there has been a load of enquirers asking about hiking up mt Apo

seernai

There. Are also some guys returning to the fold after being away for a long while , life in Davao is more or less normal there are no curfews other than the usual which is no young kids are supposed to be out after 9/10 pm no Alcohol is supposed to be sold after 12 midnight it's been like this for years
