Toyota (Land Cruiser, Fortuner, or the FJ Cruiser). Reliable, parts are easily available. US & European SUVs - parts are hard to come by & expensive. http://www.toyota.com.ph/toyota-philippines-car-finder.php?page=crossover-suv

If your budget isn't an issue then I would get a fully loaded Explorer or Everest :

cwo4usn ~ Yes, you didn't mention budget, or if you are looking for a compact, mid-sized, or full size SUV, or if you prefer gas versus diesel, or if you need a capable off road vehicle or just something to drive on the streets and expressway, etc. You might want to visit the links I posted and search for more expert opinions instead of asking us expats who think we are experts on everything ;-)

cwo4usn as minocqua has mentioned you also have to consider the size as well as the reason & purpose for buying a big SUV. Streets in inner Manila are narrow, sometimes crowded (double parked vehicles, tricycles, street vendors, street kids playing, jeepneys, etc...). That goes too for some towns and cities in the Philippine provinces. If you'll live in the remote provinces, this won't be a problem, although parts or reliable mechanics are hard to come by in these remote places.

I have a 2013 Fortuner, it's a great car, seats 6 seats folded great cargo carrier. Little road noise, nice high driving position. Not too big just a great comfortable reliable car. So for me Toyota Fortuner. As said before parts and service parts are easily available. And relatively cheap.

trapped ~ I think it was me who mentioned the vehicle size and use. Doesn't matter, needless to say I agree with you.

Looks like the Ford Everest is becoming the Toyota Fortuner of the future here.

i suggest a 2nd hand (2010-2016 model) toyota fortuner . buy it on a registered car dealer and tell him that when time comes youll get to sell your fortuner back to him .. its depreciation doesnt come very low like other brands especially ford and nissan
