Hi, I am a transport manager and freight forwarder living here in Poland. I have been here since June 2011. Unfortunately we live out in the sticks a little bit, (Wodzislaw Slaski) so the chance of meeting any English speaking expats around here are pretty slim. I am however only an hours drive from Katowice. if anyone would like to get chatting then please do say hello. I am aching to make some friends here outside of my Polish wife's family. I work from home so really meeting anyone at all is very hard. I would love a night out or a couple of beers and some football ect. Please help otherwise i may just rot away here. :)

Hi...
I understand what you mean. i moved to krakow 3.5 mths ago and i miss speaking with Americans. i also work from home and it makes it difficult to meet people...not to mention Poland is not an easy place to meet people in general. nothing like the states...and noone knows anything about football (which im a die hard fan) i was lost without it when i got here...at least i didnt miss much as far as my team goes. but anyway im probably to far from you but if your ever in krakow i would love to grab a beer otherwise you are welcome to skype! keep your head up...you wont rot :)

very cool. I am using a few study guides the military gives us. and a friend in poland is helping me some... I think i will have at least a basic knowledge by the time i get there. have you noticed if it possible for americans to find work there. once I am there I am on a fixed 1100-1300 usd a month till i find something to do. i guess a lot of that depends on if i learn the language.

Why would anyone come to Poland to find work.. Huge unemployment here, really bad wages.. 2000pln per month is a good wage for most Polish people. Seriously make sure you have a good revenue stream before you come here.

not so encouraging.. haha.. I understand, I am not making the move for economic gains. I am soon to be retired from the Marines. and plan to move for personal reasons. my pension will be about $1225 /month roughly 3700pln. I plan to try to get work, but I expect it to take a while....

Hi English speakers We are not Americans (Swiss in fact) but are used to US people since I was in the financial field for many years specially with Americans. We are living in the southern part near Bielsko-Biala and our english speaking community is slowly growing since mainly British are living around here. Some of us are also members of the Oswiecim (Auschwitz) LIONS Intl. Club. If you need more infos please contact me via Mail: info@stember.ch

First off, Semper Fi. I served myself and my family and I are potentially moving to Gdansk for a work transfer. Are you still in the area? if so, what city do you live in now? It would be great to connect with some expats, especially former Marines.
