Retiring to Krakow

I'm an American citizen, my wife has dual citizenship (Poland and U.S.) and we are planning and moving/retiring to Krakow within the next year or so. She has property in Krakow in which we'll live. We are also thinking of having a home built just outside of the city. Can anyone please let us know what hurdles we might face? Will I be able to use the state medical resources or will I (or both of us) need extra insurance? How does the taxation work on income from the US (rental property income, Social Security, Stocks, etc.)? Will I need to become a Polish citizen and. if so, how does that process work? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey, Im tommy - local living in krakow area. If u think about buying some properties i can show u great places around town. Compeard to US laws U can expect some long burocratic processes, but town itself is crazy and worth this effort. Im not sure how about taxes and agreements with US.

A good place to start your research would be the Polish embassy near you. They should give you links to the Polish institutions you’d need to contact.
As to a medical insurance, you’d definitely need to buy a private one since, understandably, you haven’t been making contributions to the Polish National Health Fund to be eligible for medical services there.
