Hi there, I am a British Expat currently living in China. We are leaving this year and can't take our dog back to the UK without the 6 months quarantine. The UK's DEFRA have advised us to go to a Pet Passport scheme country for 6 months first. Portugal is top of our list. Does anyone have any advice on whether this is a good idea or whether there is somewhere more convenient in Europe? Further info on best places to live with a dog in portugal would be well received also..thanks all

Hi, I am also looking to move to Portugal and the only advice I have is that it's a beautiful place to live. Your dog would love it there as there is plenty of places that it can go to enjoy the outdoors. I went to Aljezur and there was dogs there and they were left to roam around but they belonged to the area but never came across an aggressive one. There is a vetinary surgeon who does work with wild dogs and keeps them off the street. However, Aljezur is expensive to live in and you may be better living in a bigger area. Hope this helps.

Portugal is a great place to live. Your dog will need to go to the vet here, do a rabies shot which is then sent to a government vet. 6 months later, another blood sample is taken which goes back to the government vet to verify that he/she shows antibodies x 6 months. You can only fly to UK on either BA or Flytap.com. Hope this helps!
