We have enjoyed getting advice from our new friend on this exchange, Marilyn. Craig and I are visiting Portugal in April to relax AND to find an area into which we will move. We have a home to sell in the US and wish to rent or lease for about 6 months or a year. Marilyn has convinced us that our love for the arts and life means Algarve is NOT the place for long...what are other suggestions and do you know of good leasing/rental companies, please?

The Algarve is only about 2/3 hours drive from Lisbon. However if you are into beeing in the centre of the action you might consider Lisbon (Chiado area) or Cascais (near the coastline).

Thank you...we are more informed now and interested in the culture and activities in Lisboa, Caiscais, etc more than Algarve. We understand that renting can be impossible, not like it is in the US or UK. Thank you for your tips.
