Hi , I am planning to relocate this end of the year to Portugal , My husband is living there.
I would like to know if there is any nursing jobs at the hospital . I am a US citizen.
What I was planning is to learn the language first by working in my husband bar/ coffee shop business.
Then apply for employment by next year.......
Is this possible?

Nurses are leaving Portugal due to economic conditions...which we hope to see improving in 2013 and 2014. Hospitals and doctor's offices are hiring, but you have to speak some Portuguese to get licensed here. Add to that you need to be able to get a work permit, which might not be as difficult given the loss of employees in your field. Can your husband put you in touch with a doctor, nurse or hospital in the Porto/Aveiro area so you can get information about the licensing and work permit procedures? Also look into 'AngloInfo', an online site that has SOME info on working in Portugal, and at the US Embassy in Portugal site. Your local Portuguese embassy in the US is also going to have a lot of details on this.
