Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help me. My 30 y.o. half-brother is a dual UK/Portuguese citizen, who for the last 10 or so years has been living in Armacao De Pera. My dad has just heard that he is having a psychotic episode and is talking about suicide/harming others. His Portuguese family can't go near him and have told my dad that he can't be sectioned until a doctor provides signed paperwork confirming his illness. This doesn't make any sense to me as, when a person is as vulnerable as he is right now, there surely should/must be a way to get him committed rapidly and assessed later.
Does anyone out there have any idea of the legal situation regarding this and who, if anyone, we can contact to get things moving quickly. Worried that as time elapses the risk of something terrible happening increases.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to provide.
