France to Portugal

pickmeup - Dordogne

Hi Cheese cake,
Thank you for your quick response and the useful information you have provided us with.
The various expat forums we have been on. We find the information very confusing regarding the healthcare.
My husband is still French registered self-employed plumber although he is pensionable age.
He does have a heart condition and on medication, he has yearly check-ups under a heart specialist and holds 100% certification regarding medication and medical fees. We use the French Health care system.
However, it does not stop him from working. The doctors here are very happy for him to continue working. We pay our taxes like everybody else.
There are so many questions we would still like to ask you.
Would my husband still able to continue with yearly check-ups under a heart specialist and would he still receive 100% for medication and medical fees?
What is the bottom line regarding state health care in Portugal? Would we still get the same as we do in France or would we have take out extra insurance.
We have a French registered car and we hold French driving licenses. When will we have to change the registrations, licenses etc?
Would my husband still be able to continue working as a registered plumber amongst the expat community? Re-register under the Portuguese authorities
Could you let us know the areas around you where the property prices are low? We would prefer out of the towns. We are working on a bit of a budget.
I know you have taken the plunged after 22 years in the Dordogne. We just want to make sure we cover everything.
Not sure if it possible to email each other.
Thank you for your help, much appreciated
