Does anyone know of any language courses/schools around the Albufeira area to learn Portuguese?
Can anyone suggest a cheap hire car company in this area? We will be there for 6 months from October

Thank you for your reply. The anglo info site had just what Im looking for. Is it possible to buy the Portugal News paper from a shop whilst in Albufeira do you know?

Yes, The Portugal News is sold as a hardcopy newspaper widely across the Algarve / Southern area. It is also available free, online, from their website. It is quite helpful yet watch for tax and investment tips that are for British expats only...unless you are a British expat (the use of 'whilst' was my clue).
