Does anyone know if it is possible to get a 6 month tourist visa in Portugal for a U.S. citizen? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Louis

Yes, it is possible to get a 6 month tourist visa. One is supposed to do this from the US; however, some consuls don't know how to process the request. Alternatively, you can come here on your normal 90 days without a visa; make an appointment at your local SEF office immediately; and process the extension for a small fee at the SEF. Check the immigration site 'www.imigrante.pt/PagesEn' for information on the tourist visa extension; how to call SEF for an appointment; the fees for the extension.
