Hello all,

I am a Dutch woman of almost 67, living in Belgium near to Leuven and am planning to immigrate to Portugal.
I am coming to have a look at 29th of May until 11th of June and hope to be able to immigrate the end of September.
I will be looking for the best part for me with my 2 dogs my Dobermann Binkie of 5 yrs and my Whippet Queenie of 11 yrs., to live in Portugal.

I dont know where it is better living, in the Algarve or in the province Aveiro where it is a bit less warm...
I have seen a pretty house in Leiria but I dont know if there are also Dutch speaking people and I think that would be nice though...

Maybe renting first is a better option and where do I put then all the furniture?

I hope anyone of you can give me some advice.

Kind regards,
Scarlatti

Hi Scarlatti. Portugal has fabulous cities to live, but I think it will be easier for you to consider Porto, Lisbon/Cascais/Estoril or Algarve, because there are a lot of english spoken people in that regions. I would advise you to begin finding a central place to stay for some time and travel around and then, after, make the decision about how/where to rent/buy a house. Seasonal renting can be a possibility for the firt times, as there are a lot of offers in that area and are easy to book. A good law/tax advisor would also be very helpfull when you decide to move, rent a house for a larger period or buy your dream house. Portuguese love pets, so you won't have problems with yours, but there are some rules you have to know.
Good luck.
