Insurance for application. HELP!!!

HELP!! I have a huge problem. This piece should be so easy but it's holding up my whole application process. I was hoping to have everything in this weekend!!

The €30k insurance the requested has been impossible for me to get. Apparently you have to buy trip insurance within 2 weeks of booking your air ticket and it wasn't offered on Expedia so I didn't get it. I've called 6 international travel insurance companies and they either have 45-60 day policies that have €30k+ policies but only cover 45-60 day trips OR long term policies for extended trips over 60 days that are only for €20k and you can't upgrade them for more coverage. The consulate says it has to be for the full length of my ticket - Sept-Jan - and have €30 minimum coverage.. This CAN'T be the reason I can't go??! Any ideas/help is greatly appreciated!

I just purchased the required insurance from HTH Worldwide.

Call the 800 number on the website and customer service will help you get what you need. Although it needs to be for 180 days. I selected the "Travel Gap Excursion

I found it expensive, mainly for my age but had to do it or not go.

I'm told that after arriving in Portugal and getting your "number" you can purchase insurance locally that is less expensive.

Hope this helps. It was also my last item to complete my application package.

You could also try insuremytrip.com. They have policies for any length of stay up to one year, and you can compare policies easily on their site. My husband and I found one that was reasonably priced and covered everything necessary for the consulate approval. Good luck!

Thank you both (along with Lin) so much for taking the time to answer. I'll try both tomorrow. I tried on line now and got this response: The coverage you are requesting is not available to residents of Washington. Every direction I've gone I've found a roadblock on this silly little part. (?•??•??) Maybe I'll have to move before I move (?o? )? (?o? )? (?o? )? !!!!! This is so crazy-making! If anyone else has ideas, I'd really appreciate your comments. Thanks!

I finally found one and it turned out to be a combination of what you both suggested - through insure my trip and it's the travel gap excursion. Thanks so much for your help! I appreciate this community for all we do for each other. It makes the whole process so much less stressful!
