" Hi, we are an Australian family (2 kids aged 6 & 7) and will be moving to Dukhan shortly (after passing the medical) I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some information on Dukhan and their schooling, shopping facilities, recreation etc. As on the internet most of the information is on Doha. We have the option of living in Doha and my husband commutes to Dukhan, but don''t know if this is the way to go. " It isn''t surprising that there isn''t very much information about Dukhan on the internet. It is a very small place. Its about 45 minutes drive from Doha on a road with little to no traffic. They have some great facilities out there a nice sailing club, a tar and gravel golf course and the compound has a couple of nice swimming pools. I''ve just left Doha after two years and used to go out to Dukhan once a week to go to the beach. There isn''t any shopping in Dukhan other than a couple of little stores so whether your husband commutes or you live out there you will be doing lots of driving. If your interested in what little Expat social life there is in Qatar it all happens in Doha so you would be driving in quite often. The school in Dukhan is small and well run the majority of the students are Asian I think. If you lived in the city your kids would probably go to DESS a larger British school where most of the kids are from the UK. Hope that was of some help. "
