My husband and I thinking of taking a job in Doha. We have a 8 year son who is very involved in hockey here in Canada. We were wondering if there are any hockey arenas in Doho. If not does anyone know what types of sports programs are available for children of his age.

We also have a medium sized dog and we wondering how hard it is to get a dog into Qatar and what might be involved.

Any information on family living in Doha would be greatly appreciated.

There is an ice rink at a mall in Doha. Check out this web page - it has links to 2 expat own web pages & one of them is a canadian. they might be able to give you more info. I saw a few photos of them playing on the ice. the web page is wwwswitchonwards.com

I know you can take pets to Doha. Check out www.iparta.com for dog transport. has lots of info and kennels to pick from.

I called Petsandplanes (petsandplanes@aol.com) and she was the most helpful person I found on the subject. She does a lot of animal transports to the middle east. She's based in Houston but she could give you some local contact or how do do it yourself if you feel you can handle that added chore. Lots of ideas. Very helpful.

My husband is over there right now & I will be coming later with my 2 dogs & 2 cats from Alaska - so it can be done.
