I am a 44 year old retired police officer from Los Angeles California. I am now living my bliss as a writer but am seeking a new adventure. I am exploring the possibilty of moving to Bucharest for a year. My goal is simply to explore, meet the people and of course write. What kind of life style could I lead on $2,500.00 U.S per month. I am planning a fact finding excursion sometime in April/May 2007 so any info on hotels would be appreciated as well.

I could offer some advice on living in Bucharest. You could live well on 2500 USD a month but stay away from anyone trying to rent you an apartment. Get there and have someone help you. I rented a very nice apartment for 300 dollars (5 years ago).
I have lived in Bucharest and am married to a Romanian.
