I am retired American now a resident of Cluj. Great place to live! Everything you need is here.
The coach of the American football team, Cluj Crusaders, may be American or he may be from Mexico but speaks perfect English. The Count..

Hi Count , it will be after the first of next year before we get there, daughter graduates college here shortly and working on getting wife's citizenship here before we come. was it hard adjusting there ? I think I will enjoy the lifestyle. I have been there 3 times to cluj and short visits only . I spent several years in Europe with the military and loved everything about Europe and can only imagine that Romania will be the same or similar. Once we get there I will try to look you up Terry

Hey Terry, My wife is American Citizen born in Romania so I had an easy adjustment. Lots of friends. A lot of activities to keep busy. Great restaurants.. college town with English being a second language in most places you go. If you miss American fast-food we have McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, & Subway. No problem accessing ATM's and found some very good dentists here that can save you a bundle. Two new Shopping Centers with Starbucks even. Cluj is best .. International Airport for easy access to all Europe or.. take the train. of bus.. all is available... You will need a guide to get you started.. a lot of "red tape" to get through .. and mostly everything is done in person including paying bills.. Hope you make it here someday soon.. the Cluj Count has spoken..

I'd recommend going there for 2 or 3 weeks and see how you like it. I think $1500 for a family of three might be cutting it pretty close unless you live in a cheaper area and live like the locals.

I have spent 10 days in Cluj previously. I arrive again Dec. 12. and have close friends...Romanian... there now. I have an apartment rented already. I want to extend my 90 day visa approximately 7 months to mid Oct. At a previous visit to the immigration office at the mall the officer said no problem in extending my visa. I can get a physical at the clinic office next to the immigration office. What about purchasing medical insurance there? I'm retired and just plan to spend time seeing the country.
