Moving to St. Pete summer of 2008

I was wondering if anyone could give some advice as where to start to plan for a move to St. Petersburg. I've visited there a few times and me and my family are planning to move over there next summer. We have some friends over there but I really don't know where to begin to make this happen. What should be my first step? and then so on and so on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
