Marriage in Russia?

Hello everyone, thanks (sincerely) for the past great responses to my 'a US citizen, but without a Country' situation.

I thought of an interesting question: What if I got married in Russia to either a Russian or someone from a nearby EU Country -but if after my Schengen Visa expires? Does anyone know if that also somehow qualifies me for permanent residency [anywhere] (after-the-fact)?

Also, if I ever had to legally leave the 'Schengen States' for 180 days, I'd be curious where people are most easily traveling to, to spend that 180 days (and to somehow support themselves during that time with any kind of available {legal?} work {ie: teaching english, cleaning, grocery-store work, low-pay factory work, etc.)?

*What about other EU Countries?*

Someone kindly advised me to consult an Immigration Attorney on such issues, but since our local Foreigner Supervisor here never told me until it was much too late that I had my critical work-permit -only because of that I'm still not working yet -so no income yet for such professional advice.

In the distant past I read some really good advice from regular people like us here on similar subjects and so I hope to hear more.

Thanks everyone!

Getting married in Russia will not help you. You need a lot of documents and you will have to return to the USA to get them. I think this will be a problem in most countries. Even if you got married in Russia it does not give you the right to live in Russia. You still need visas. You can apply for residence, but it takes a lot of time and documents also. (For some of which you will likely be forced to return to the USA to get.

Thanks! So with that information I assume it is not a possibility to stay there and work(?)

I had way, way too many traumatic problems when I last tried to enter the US (my supposed legal 'home' Country -even with a perfectly valid US Passport).

I would greatly appreciate any further good advice.

Regards.

Actually, working here is the easy part. I supply myself with my own businss visa, and am self-employeed. I have to get 2 visas a year, but can only stay in the country for 90 days in a row. You can leave for any period of time (10 minutes, 1 day - not important) and then return. I have 2 passports so I got a 1 year business visa in each for the same time period. Every 90 days I switch to the other passport when I return. This way, I only have to get 2 visas a year. It works great. You can make a lot of money in Moscow. I love it. I work my own hours and am my own boss. I never had it this good in the USA. I will never live there again either. I think for you, the issue of importance will be getting a passport. If it is likely you will lose your USA passport eventually (not paying taxes, legal trouble, etc). Is it better to get one from another country long before this happens. I know that is my plan! If you have any questions or want to discuss anything. Feel free to email me.
