" Who will your husband be working for? The lifestyle for the wife and children vary dramatically depending on the employer. We live/work for Saudi Aramco where the housing, schools, social life are outstanding. But there is a wide variation in Al-Khobar, Dammamm (that are sometimes referred to as ""Dhahran"" in error). Good luck, it''s been a great experience for all of us. "

" My husband has accepted a job with Aramco and will be going over to Dhahran July 5th. The kids and I won''t be going until next spring to allow our daughter to finish her senior year of high school. I know I have a lot of time, but what kinds of clothing would be most appropriate? Are there any household items that are really essential that we should be sure and bring? What specifically should we NOT bring? Over the next year, I will sorting through all our stuff, and any advice would be appreciated! "

" I have a potential offer as well from Aramco. I was wondering how long did it take for the work visa to come through for your husband. I have been waiting for a month or so and wanted to know if this was too long, etc. Also, from the time your husband got offered the conditional job, how long did take for the final offer to come through in order to go on July 5th. Thanks for your help. Raju "

" Hi, have you heard from anyone about living in Dhahran? I lived there for 4 1/2 years, but it was a while back. I am actually considering a move there in the near future myself. I have a 12 year old, a 10 year old, a 5 year old and a 1 year old. Would you be working for Aramco? Laura islandhome@qwest.net "

" We actually started the interview process in October and my husband went through a total of 4 interviews. Once he got the conditional offer, it took several weeks for the background check and medical stuff to be completed. Once that was finished, the actual visa only took about a week or two and then he was given the OK to quit. They called him with both the conditional offer and then the final approval. He had to give his current employer 30 days notice, so that is why he didn''t leave sooner. So, from the time he got the conditional offer and the final approval was probably about 8 weeks an then add on another month for his departure date. It''s a pretty slow process! Ellen "

" Hi Kim, I am a nurse living Dhahran. Although I don''t have any children I have met numerous family members who love raising their children here for it is very safe. Not only this they tell me their kids get a superior education and they are able to expose their children to worlwide travel that they are unable to afford in the states. Feel free to e-mail me and I will answer all the questions that I can or the very least provide you with a resource of a family that is living here. BYE "

You can only access Aramco compound if you have friends living there or work for Aramco. It is not open to non-Aramcon people.
