Very Anxious abt Visa

Hi!
My husband will be going to Jeddah soon and we have some worries abt getting our visas. Firstly, I understand that a multiple entry visa is rather difficult to obtain. So the norm is to be issued with a single entry one. Can anyone offer any advice/help on this?

Secondly, I will be accompanying him but I also heard that my visa will not be processed until my husband has received his visit visa. This seems to mean that I cannot go with him in the meantime. How long do I usually have to wait before I can join him? And, are any problems of any sort encountered for this?

Thirdly, from a visit visa, what would be the average time before a residence/work permit would be issued?

Lastly, some other misc. worries:

(this may sound strange) Am I expected to be in an abaya once I get out of the plane??? Can a woman take a taxi by herself? Or does she need permission from her husband? What about drivers, is being in the car alone with the driver violating any rules?? For cargo arrivals, what is the usual process from cargo touchdown up to the time it arrives in the home? Will my music CDs and books be subject to screening? Any problems with cartoon VCDs? Will they be screened as well and will I have to pay for this?

Would appreciate advice on the above!!!

I would really appreciate reponses on this.

Gooday

Once your husband has been in the country a few months he can request a multiple exit visa from his company... the cost is minimal (some companies will try and shy away from this depending on the nationality and the position held in Saudia).

Depending again on the company that your husband is working for it can take from 2 weeks to 3 months. Ensure that your husband has all the required documentation before he departs for Saudia... i.e. your husbands company can give you a list of the requirements or you can ask at your nearest Saudi embassy.

The igama as it is called in Saudia will take but a few days to a few weeks depending again on the company your husband is working for.

No you are not expected to be in an Abaya when you arrive in Saudia.

Yes, a woman can take a taxi by herself (ensure you change some money into riyals before you depart the airport or if you can change them in the country you live in.
No being in a taxi with another male is fine.

Depending again on the company that your husband is working for it can take from a couple of days to a month.

Yes your music CD's and books will be screened before being allowed into the country (my suggestion is not to take them).

There are no problems with any of the CD's but they will be screened and no there is no charge for this.

If you have any further inquiries have a look at my Life as an expat in Saudia and if you have further questions send me an email at pathawkins@hotmail.com

Chow for now
