I've only recently moved to Jeddah myself and I'm a Brit (English). I've been here about 4 weeks. I don't know how to scuba yet but I intend to learn. I've been going snorkelling in the meantime. The guy I share my villa with is a big scuba fan so I could put you in contact with him too.

Shabbatly is great - and will put you in contact with folks who are there. This is diving heaven- the best I have ever experinced.
There is a huge diving fraternity
go to desert Sea divers ( on cornishe - or go to Al Ballad beach ( they have a store there as well.
You can just ask for spare places on boats until you have a crowd who you can order a boat as a group ( but beware always take payement in advance - I got burnt a couple of times)
I do not know how to keep my identity private- but have e-mails of the diving crowd- they arrange trip eg Farasan Islands next week - great sharks and turtles. Can out you on mailing list.
You sent me a private message- did my reply work? If not send instructions so i can give phone numbers and contacts at Sghabbatly. It can be great out here- so dont come with a neagtitive attitude- it is a water babes heaven!

i think you need a pass. but i think if you are checking out the uni you can but you have to leave your passport or iqama at the security gates. security is pretty tight. i can ask around though and get more info

Am living in Jeddah and I would like to meet new friends, I spent all my time between work and home nothing else , I would like to have a lot of activities but I did not meet yet the right group coz we living in Conservative society .

I will be working within the facilities dept at kaust. Flying out in April. I won't be living on site - i will have to drive in each day from whichever compound i end up on.
