Accommodation in Riyadh

Hi again everyone,

I've got the task of finding accommodation for a Consultant of mine in Riyadh. It's his first assignment in Saudi and I'd like for him to have a nice stay, hopefully with his wife. We would normally use the Seder Village, but I have discovered it is full with 4-5 month waiting list. Can anyone recommend another compound suitable for a gentleman in his 50's living with his wife?

Also, people have become concerned about the cost of living in Saudi compounds. Has this increased recently? What are we looking at on average for a 1 or 2 bedroom appartment or house?

Thanks again,
Laura

We're living at Seder Village at the moment. My suggestion is that you try and place them in the motel on the compound. That way at least he will be well placed if anything comes up. It seems to me that the waiting list isn't as accurate and one is lead to believe. Also, while in the motel at least he (and his wife) will have access to all the amenities and activities. As for other compounds the waiting lists are more or less the same from what I hear. Rent at Seder now for a three bedroom villa is SAR 120.000 or SAR 100.000 if you pay yearly. Most other compounds seem to be more expensive although their accomodation is also bigger. However, at the end of the day it's what comes out of your pocket :) n'est pas?

I hope this has been of some help.

Thanks so much, that is very helpful indeed. Do you find the accommodation and amenities at Seder are comfortable? I have recently had a Consultant complain about weather conditions and trouble with fine sand. Do you find that to be an issue? For health reasons?

Thanks,
Laura

Alternative to compound living in Saudi.

We have new buildings with 2 bedrooms, lr, kitchen, and one bath. Yearly rent is 20000 SAR. Nice location just across from Diplomatic Quarters in Riyadh
