It all depends on how hard the agent or company in Saudi push for the visa. Now that Ramadan is over it could be a matter of weeks or days. Once the Saudi Embassy in the US have the visa details and number that should only take a few days to get the actual visa put into the passport.
Make sure the visa is the right one though, as there are different sorts.

thanks for your input hopefully like you said its a speedier process, we are hoping for our family not to be separated long as i have 2 boys ages 4 and 7 who will go to school there

Once your husband has his visa, you can expect a minimum of six weeks until you and your children are able to join him. If anyone tells you something shorter they are probably being overly optimistic.
